Working with the local environment

OUT AND ABOUT
Going outside the school gates in school time turns the local environment into a place of learning and exploration. Representing the local community and culture through the arts was central to the Multimedia Maps project.
All the artists took their groups outside the school. Each group began the project by making a video diary that described life in their school and community. They exchanged these with their partner schools.
Going outside also made the school more visible in its local area and enabled a range of people in the community to contribute to the work.
